3Great game - but it doesn't play on all playstations  Jul 23, 2007
I have one of the older PS2's that I purchased a few months after U.S. release. This game will not play on my PS2 but will play on the newer (slim-line) PS2's.

2bad tennis game  Oct 27, 2006
I can't believe how bad this game is. Hard Hitter has AWFUL announcers who repeat the same lines over and over. That's a really big distraction right there. The controls are pretty unresponsive too. Sometimes you have to hit all the buttons to keep up with the ball. I don't know what the game company was thinking. I don't even know who the tennis players are. There's really no reason to own this game when plenty of better tennis games are on the market.

1If there is one game you should never buy, this is it  Jun 13, 2006
I found this used at a game store, so happily I only paid 6 dollars for it. However, it is worth far less.

This game will give you a headache. The players move as though they are on an ancient, glitchy console that can't handle the mediocre graphics. You will need your crappiest controller because you will without a doubt through it against the hardest surface you can find. The announcers, which I cannot silence, have a set of about 8 phrases to say. Some sound ridiculous ("He hit the ball with his racket."--seriously), some are innapropriate to the gameplay, and others don't fit the gender of the player. Does this kind of thing annoy you? It annoys me.

The single player mode is horrid. You can only play a tiebreaker in the world championship. That's it. 7 points.

The controls are also terrible. Just try to actually aim the ball. Go ahead...try.

I just played Mario Tennis on N64 a few weeks ago. That game is leaps and bounds ahead of this one, which looks like it was made by drunken frat boys who have never seen tennis played. The only reason it got 2 stars for fun is because I greatly enjoy tennis games, and any tennis is okay with me.

Please please please do not purchase this game. Save your money for something better, like several packs of flavorless gum.

1The only thing it hit had was my wallet  Mar 03, 2006
I was excited to get this game, because I've always been a fan of tennis games. HOwever, when i received this game i was thoroughly angered. All characters are fictitious, which i wouldnt mind if the controls were more accurate and the game had a good selection of playing options. I find that your characters cannot run around the court like your opponents do, so your basically hitting random buttons trying to 'outwit' the computer. The gameplay is either tournament style, or three mini-games. I did not like this game at all
